It has been a while since I used the Plazes plugin, to me one of the real promising projects which is developed by Stefan Kellner and Felix Petersen at their own pace.

A couple of months ago they integrated Flickr nicely into their technology (link tagged pictures to your places!) and now lately you can see the Plazes you created on a Google Map.
