One of my first inspirations to start blogging myself was Russell Beattie with his personal branded blog about anything mobile. He always wrote his original views and opinions down in a fresh no-nonsense style, yet always passionate about the cell phone and its development.
Saturday he announced he puts his weblog to sleep:
“Four years! It’ll be weird to *not* be a blogger any more, I have to admit, but despite how good blogging has been for my life, it’s time to move on.”
The volume of what he produced is for the least impressive, no doubt hard work has gone into his blog, this work that took him to his current mobile evangelist job at Yahoo! From there I knew the blog writing would suffer from that, but still he managed to keep up and be faithfull to his style, until last Saturday when he decided to quit blogging.
I can understand why, it takes a lot of time time and energy to keep an original ‘voice’ on your blog, difficult to sustain the same quality on a regular basis over and over again, not to mention you have to combine this with a job and a family.
Well with this post, I just wanted to thank you Russ for everything you have given to the community. I’m sure you’ll be back somewhere, somehow…

[...] After a blog-break of more than a year Russell Beattie started to blog again. Here’s a link to his old blog if you want to read some essential stuff on the mobile and web convergent evolution of the last years, but now he’s back starting from scratch again here: “I’ve been floating around the edges of a starting new blog for a while now, and I think the time has arrived for me to jump into the fray again. Actually, Diego is the one that inspired me tonight – his fifth blog anniversary is today (July 11th) and he’s starting a new one up at better named http://blog.diegodoval.com . That finally pushed me over the top, and I decided to just do it.” (…) [...]
