If you’re a football fan, it’s no news that the F.C Barcelona football team won the Spanish Liga last week and they’re still going for the UEFA Champions League final against Arsenal on May 17 in Paris.
Ronaldinho and the team brought a new spirit to what’s football all about (fun and creativity!) and he brought the samba back to Barcelona.
Yesterday the team did their champions victory tour through Barcelona city.

1.200.000 citizens thanked the players for all the magical moments last year and turned the city into a real carnival place.
I wouldn’t post about this event if it wasn’t that one of the busses of the caravan was allowing the public nearby to donwload images of the team and the last Nike advertising spot, dedicated to the conquest of the title of the Spanish League.
A very nice gesture to deliver ‘free’ additional content to the clubs fans and an idea that will lead to other such mobile branding campaigns hopefully elsewhere.
Anyone knows or heard about similar ideas? I would love to hear them and report on them here.
UPDATE:
Martin left this comment that got lost somewhere in the Blogger edit…
Hello Rudy, did you have the chance to try it yourself? It would be interesting to see how it was done via Bluetooth from a user point of view (i.e. what did you have to do to get the pictures etc., were there several, how could you choose, etc.)Martin
Actually, I could not try out myself (had to film for the daughters!) but it would be nice if anyone reading this – who got the chance to try it out – leaves a note here how his experience was… I have been curious myself on the issue:
- need a password or key to connect?
- automatic device detection?
- image and video format?
- sponsored brand message?

Hello,
This campaign was developed by a Barcelona start up called FuturLink:

regards,
Ignacio.
This campaign was developed by MediaPlanning Group (www.mpg.com) using the technology of FuturLink (www.futurlink.com).
FuturLink is a R D company focused to develop products and applications to interact with mobile phones on the proximity. FuturLink technology is present in more than 20 countries.
The barça Bluetooth campaign was sending videos of the NIKE barça special spot and team images. More than 1.500 people download the content in just 2 hours, when the bus was running very slow.
