WIMOB: WEB TO MOBILE or the revolution for portable multimedia content. (www.wimob.com)
We launched Wimob in 2008 at the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona, as a revolutionary concept aiming to improve the mobile content experience for a worldwide audience of millions of mobile phones.
Nowadays when browsing Internet you find information you would like to carry somewhere else for a later use, you could wether print it, or take notes or browse Internet later with a mobile phone. However, traditional mobile browsing is often considered too complicated, time-consuming and expensive, making the global experience unsatisfactory. And what’s more you need to mobile-browse again the whole web until you find the specific information of your interest.
It is to improve this experience that the Wimob team got together. Our Wimob application allows users to transfer the multimedia content on a website from a PC to a mobile phone with just one click. In this way, users can for example show friends a movie clip while dinning, check a railways schedule on the way, listen to an audiopost when driving, etc.
Furthermore, our patented Wimob application is the only tool adapting the web-site content automatically to the different mobile phone formats.
And we do it for free, as we do not send the content through the service provider. It simply goes from the PC to the mobile phone using the usual connections on both devices: Bluetooth, Infrarred or USB.
Wimob is therefore a powerful tool for publishers and bloggers, multiplying their impact by making their content ubiquitous and present on the mobile phones of potential customers, community or Internet users.
In addition to this, Wimob is an advertising platform, as web-owners may choose wether to have external advertising on the Wimob user application or to upgrade their Wimob license to implement their own advertisements.
We are an innovation oriented team from 10 different nationalities located in Barcelona at the technology 22@ district and backed by important venture capitalists. Our aim is to redefine the way people obtain content on their mobile phones taking profit of the millions of Internet websites currently available.
Your presentation at Plugg 2008 was one of the most informative. I did live blogging during the event, for some 9 hours, so please check out the archive at http://www.cyberculture.ro/blog/?p=1568 .
I was excited to see so many fresh initiatives in Europe in the Web 2.0 world and I was surprised to note that most of them consider mobile versions of their services.
