After 10 years of a happy life in Barcelona, this summer I moved to the London area, to Tunbridge Wells to be precise, in the British countryside.

As a result of this decision, I will move on to a non-executive role at dotopen and focus on new projects. I will of course continue to be a co-founder, boardmember and shareholder.

dotopen, which I co-founded in 2007 with Carles Ferreiro, is now a company with a staff of 12 people based in Barcelona. AppCircus – the brand we launched in 2010 has become a very successful brand. At its core, AppCircus brings together people that need apps with people that make apps. The first two years saw more than 6000 participants with AppMakers pitching their apps in over 60 events in + 35 countries worldwide. This year AppCircus launched AppChallenges as an opportunity for AppMakers to get involved in projects solving problems for brands and institutions.  Check out the recent AppChallenge the company launched together with the World Bank and Google to solve the transportation problem in Cairo. Stay tuned for more to come and latest updates @appcircus.

New projects – In the immediate future, I will work more closely with some of the projects that are close to my heart and/or I have been advising randomly for sometime:

Siine - The first icon-based keyboard that you can edit and personalize; That Device -  A soon to be launched device for the elderly; ArtSpotter - An art discovery engine and app; and last but not least,  Worldreader - A non-profit project which is transforming reading in emerging countries around the world, by giving access to digital books using the Kindle.

Singularity –  I shall take a closer look into the Quantified Self movement as a generator for creating better personal health through mobile apps, and I’ll be making contact with the many Singularity resources I’ve built up since attending the University last year in Silicon Valley.

I am always open and on the look out for cool new app or startup projects as an angel investor/ advisor, so feel free to contact me if you have ‘the next big thing’ in the world of apps!

Coming up! – Together with my fiancee and partner, Shaheera Asante, I will shift my attention to the African continent, the most exciting place on earth right now for innovation, creation and the vibrancy of life.

Shaheera and I we will focus on the many innovations that are currently created by young talented African entrepreneurs in many exciting area’s such as technology, health, education, greentech and especially mobile; my field of interest. And design, fashion, art, contemporary culture, entertainment which is Shaheera’s field of interests and experience as an award winning broadcaster and former BBC presenter and producer in London.  Check out her new blog BfabAfrica.

And finally…I am now available for projects/keynotes/presentations/interim consultations and brainstorms on topics such as; app marketing, developer marketing and smart cities.

If you are interested in using my services just contact me on Twitter or email me here.
