Tag Of The Week: Mobilists

Interesting to see how Google and Yahoo! search work these days and how blogging and tagging is influencing the results, example this week on keyword “mobilists”.

Google results shows that tagging gets preference on many other parameters used, even if the tags come from a competitive app such as Flickr, see for yourself how Justin wins on Google in only in 2 weeks time by creating the mobilists tag on Flickr. At gotomobile.com we have been experimenting with tags too and see who’s ranked 2nd; and finally m-trends.org (you are here!) uses the tags from tagcloud from Yahoo! and this seems to work excellent with Google too.

Searching mobilists at Yahoo! gives a representative result, in the first place to Mobhappy, who started the whole mobilists craze only a couple of months ago. After that the logic of the results looks a bit confusing to me, with all respect to Stuart at blethers.com (who you can notice is excellent in this stuff too!) but randomone.com doen’t seem logical here since there were no recent postings there on the mobilists either.

And finally, doing the same at MSN Search - hadn’t used that one for a while - Justin wins again with his mobilists at Flickr tag. Not really clear here either what parameters they prioritise but it’s interesting to notice here that the mobilists tag at Technorati ranks pretty high.

btw: have you mentioned how many entries exist on the mobilists yet?
